Project: Nova Scotia Transportation

Nova Scotia Transportation & Infrastructure Renewal
Village of Cheticamp, Nova Scotia

C.J. MacLellan with ABL Environmental Consultants Inc . provided engineering services for the design of plant upgrades, a new storage facility and improved water distribution  to meet compliance and operational requirements.

CJMac was the prime consultant responsible for structural, civil,  mechanical design and ABL provided the process design, and SCADA.  The design included upgrades to three well house facilities, VFDs, monitoring equipment and complete PLC control. In addition a 220,000 gallon steel glass lined reservoir was erected as well as over 500 metres of raw and treated water transmission main to improve on water circulation for chlorine residual as well as to add increased pressure to residential homes.

CJMac also design a ne watermain to service 18 homes on a very constrained laneway within the village. The historical development provides for small Acadian homes built generally wherever owners pleased, which when viewed today is difficult to provide new infrastructure without causing significant disruption. The contractor and the engineering staff successfully installed the new services to eliminate an old non compliant line to these homes.

Project costs were $880,000 with commissioning in Setpember of 2008.
